Toub: Butker still Chiefs' kicker despite struggles, Tucker signing
Chiefs special teams coordinator Dave Toub expressed rather emphatically that Harrison Butker is the team's kicker despite the team signing Justin Tucker, who hasn't played in the NFL since 2024, to their practice squad.
Omarr Norman-Lott — Out
Norman-Lott was limited in his return to practice Wednesday. He's in the final stages of his recovery from a torn ACL that he sustained in October of 2025. The Chiefs now have 21 days to activate Norman-Lott from the PUP list, otherwise he would be forced to miss the entire 2026 season.

Jaylon Moore — Out
Moore entered the league's concussion protocol during the Chiefs' Week 6 against the Chargers. He was not cleared to practice during Week 7 prep and will be sidelined for Sunday's contest, so Joshua Ezeudu will likely draw the start at right tackle. Moore's next opportunity to play is Week 8 against the Broncos on Nov. 1.
Brashard Smith — Injured Reserve
Smith sustained a hamstring injury in Thursday's practice session and has promptly been transitioned to IR as he manages the issue. Running back Jaydn Ott has been signed to the active roster to be the No. 3 option behind Kenneth Walker and Emmett Johnson while Smith recovers.
Brashard Smith — Injured Reserve
Smith popped up on Thursday's practice report as a limited participant due to a hamstring injury. He did not practice Friday, and it appears his injury is severe enough for him to miss his first game of the season. Smith has seen little work offensively, but his absence means Nikko Remigio and Emmett Johnson will handle return duties on kickoffs and punts. Smith's next chance to play is Week 8 against Denver on Sunday, Nov. 1.

Rashee Rice — Out
With Rice set to miss another game, the Chiefs are left with Xavier Worthy as their top wide receiver. Rice still hasn't returned to practice and thus seems in danger of missing time beyond Week 7.
Rashee Rice — Out
Rice hasn't practiced since going down with his hamstring injury in Week 4 against the Raiders, so it looks like he's going to miss Sunday's game against the Seahawks. Xavier Worthy, Jalen Royals, Cyrus Allen and Nikko Remigio are on the 53-man roster at wide receiver, but the Chiefs elevated both Andrew Armstrong and Justin Watson last Sunday against the Chargers.
Josh Simmons — Injured Reserve
Though he had been on the Chiefs' 53-man roster all season, Simmons had yet to make his 2026 debut while working his way back from a bulging and herniated disc in his lower back. Simmons appeared to be making strides in his recovery after he returned to practice last week as a limited participant, but he downgraded to no participation Wednesday after head trainer Rick Burkholder said that the second-year left tackle "plateaued in the rehab process," per Nate Taylor of ESPN.com. As a result, the Chiefs have opted to deactivate Simmons, who won't be eligible to play until Week 11 versus the Cardinals. Undrafted rookie Kahlil Benson should continue to start at left tackle in Simmons' absence.

Cooper McDonald — Injured Reserve
McDonald was placed on injured reserve Sept. 16 due to a knee injury that he sustained in Week 1 against the Broncos. He's progressed enough in his recovery to return to practice, and the Chiefs will now have 21 days to activate McDonald from IR, otherwise he would be forced to miss the rest of the 2026 season.
