Cardinals' Budda Baker hopes to stay with Arizona at trade deadline
Budda Baker hopes that when the trade deadline passes, he'll still be in Arizona.
Jalen Brooks — Injured Reserve
The transaction comes after Brooks announced earlier in the day that he underwent season-ending wrist surgery. Brooks saw light snaps through the first four weeks of the season, but he stepped in as the Cardinals' No. 3 wideout for the past three games after Marvin Harrison was traded to the Texans. The 26-year-old will finish the 2026 campaign with five receptions for 81 yards on 17 targets to go with 499 yards on 19 kickoff returns.

Tip Reiman — Out
Reiman hasn't played this season and is currently on the reserve/PUP list. While there haven't been any updates on when the 25-year-old will be back on the field, it appears the door isn't fully closed regarding his return before the end of the 2026 campaign. Reiman has appeared in 21 regular-season games for the Cardinals since being drafted in the third round in the 2024 NFL Draft, amassing nine catches for 55 yards.
James Conner — Injured Reserve
It's a typical LaFleur non-answer type of answer. It was reported two weeks ago that Conner was close to practicing, but there's been no indication his 21-day practice window is close to being opened by the Cardinals. There's not much room on the depth chart for another running back that doesn't play special teams in Arizona.
Jalen Brooks — Out
Brooks wasn't known to have sustained an injury in the Cardinals' 30-16 loss to the Broncos on Sunday, when he played a season-high 52 of 81 snaps en route to finishing with a 35-yard reception on six targets. Evidently, Brooks fractured or sprained his wrist severely enough at some point during the game to require surgery a day later, bringing an early end to his 2026 campaign. Through seven games, the fourth-year wideout recorded five catches for 81 yards on 17 targets while returning 19 kickoffs for 499 yards. Reggie Virgil and Simi Fehoko look to be the top candidates to replace Brooks as the Cardinals' No. 3 wideout behind Michael Wilson and Kendrick Bourne.

Max Melton — Out
There was optimism that Melton would be cleared to play, but the third-year defensive back will be sidelined by a knee issue and observe Sunday's game in street clothes. Kalen King is in line for more defensive snaps due to the absence of Melton, whose next chance to play is Week 8 against the Cowboys on Sunday, Nov. 1.
Carson Beck — Out
Beck was unable to practice Thursday and Friday due to back spasms. He's inactive for Sunday's contest, but as the emergency third quarterback, he would be allowed to play in the event that both Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew left the game due to injury, illness or ejection.

Jon Gaines II — Out
Gaines remains sidelined with a bad ankle. Hayden Conner is set to start at right guard against the Broncos in the 27-year-old's place.
Andrew Wingard — Out
Wingard will miss a third consecutive game due to a bone bruise in his knee, and his next chance to play is Week 8 against the Cowboys on Sunday, Nov. 1. Budda Baker (groin/illness) is questionable, so Wydett Williams, Dadrion Taylor-Demerson and Kitan Crawford are all candidates to start at safety against Denver on Sunday.
Walter Nolen III — Out
Nolen suffered an ankle injury during the Cardinals' Week 6 win over the Rams. The defensive tackle has not practiced since sustaining the injury and has naturally been ruled out ahead of Sunday's contest. Andrew Billings and L.J. Collier will need to step up on the defensive line next to Roy Lopez for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
