Recent official rulings
Naji Marshall — Out
Marshall will now miss his second consecutive contest, meaning his next opportunity to suit up will come Friday against the Rockets. Without Marshall on the floor, Max Christie, Walter Clayton and Morez Johnson should each see a few extra minutes versus the Thunder.
Mavericks exercise 2027-28 option on Zaccharie Risacher deal
The Mavericks exercised the fourth-year team option in forward Zaccharie Risacher's contract, guaranteeing his $17.4 million salary next season.
Tarik Biberovic — Out
Biberovic is still waiting to make his NBA debut. His next chance to do so arrives Friday against the Rockets.
Santi Aldama — Out
Aldama is still waiting to make his Mavericks debut. His next chance to return from knee surgery comes Friday versus Houston.
Santi Aldama — Out
Aldama presumably got some practice reps in with the Legends after being assigned to the squad earlier in the day. He's still working his way back from right knee surgery he underwent in March, and he's listed as doubtful for Wednesday's matchup with the Thunder.
Tarik Biberovic — Out
Biberovic isn't expected to play Wednesday due to right heel bursitis, though the doubtful tag represents a step in the right direction. However, his potential absence wouldn't affect the rotation.
Sergio de Larrea — Out
De Larrea sustained a right knee sprain in Monday's win over the Heat and will be held out of Wednesday's contest. His next chance to play will come Friday against Houston. With the rookie guard sidelined, Marcus Sasser could see a slight bump in minutes.
Santi Aldama — Out
While Aldama is unlikely to play Wednesday, he appears to be making progress after being sent down to Dallas' G League affiliate on a rehab assignment. Aldama is not expected to have a significant role in the Mavs' rotation this season.
Caleb Martin — Out
Martin has a chance to make his season debut Wednesday. Look for the Mavericks to update his status closer to tipoff.
Santi Aldama — Out
This is all part of Aldama's return-to-play protocol. The forward is still considered week-to-week, but this is a sign that he's trending in the right direction. Look for him to be recalled shortly.
Caleb Martin — Out
Martin will miss his fourth straight game to begin the 2026-27 season. His absence won't have any effect on the Mavericks' rotation.
Cooper Flagg — Out
Given the circumstances of the injury, it's quite remarkable to see Flagg doing so well. He was diagnosed with a sprain Saturday, but the injury seems to be progressing and it's being described as a mild issue. He remains listed as questionable on the injury report.
Caleb Martin — Out
Martin is expected to remain on the inactive list for a fourth consecutive contest due to a right thumb sprain. His potential absence wouldn't affect the rotation.
Cooper Flagg — Out
The Mavericks diagnosed Flagg with a mild left shoulder sprain Saturday, and the questionable tag suggests a final call on his availability will be made closer to Monday's 7:30 p.m. ET tipoff. With Naji Marshall (illness) already ruled out, Marcus Sasser and Zaccharie Risacher would be the top candidates to start if Flagg is ruled out for Monday.
Naji Marshall — Out
Marshall is under the weather and will be held out of Monday's road game, and his next chance to suit up will come when the Mavericks host the Thunder on Wednesday. With the 28-year-old forward unavailable, Zaccharie Risacher and Marcus Sasser could see increased burn.
Kyrie Irving — Out
The Mavericks are taking a cautious approach with Irving since he's played only a few games since returning from the ACL injury he sustained in March last year, so it's not surprising to see him out for rest. His next chance to play will come against the Heat on Monday, and in the meantime, Marcus Sasser is expected to replace him in the backcourt against the Spurs.
Caleb Martin — Out
Martin has yet to suit up for a regular-season game due to a right thumb injury. His next chance to play is Monday against the Heat, but given the nature of the injury, he can be considered week-to-week until the Mavericks provide a more clear timetable for return.
Jett Howard — Out
Howard is tracking toward missing each of the first three games of the regular season while tending to a right calf injury. Assuming he's ruled out, the fourth year pro's next opportunity to make his 2026-27 regular-season debut would be Monday against the Heat.
Tarik Biberovic — Out
Biberovic has been recovering from right heel bursitis stemming from training camp in mid-October. He'll end up missing the first three games of the regular season, and he can be considered week-to-week until the Mavericks provide a clearer timetable for the 2023 second-rounder.
Santi Aldama — Out
Aldama continues to ramp up in his recovery from a right knee procedure that he underwent in March. His next chance to make his 2026-27 debut is Monday against the Heat, but he should be considered week-to-week until his practice participation increases.
