Injury & Status History
A running log of this player's status changes — each entry links to the original source.
Omarion Hampton — Active
The Chargers continued to deloy an ineffective backfield rotation, as Hampton got 11 touches compared to 10 for Kimani Vidal and two for Keaton Mitchell. None of the three running backs exceeded 3.0 yards per carry while QB Justin Herbert led the team with 26 rushing yards. Hampton has been trending in the wrong direction, with his rushing yardage dropping with each subsequent game since a 94-yard performance on the ground in Week 2 against the Raiders. He'll look to reverse that trend in Week 8 against the Rams following a Week 7 bye.
Omarion Hampton — Active
Hampton has found room to run in the Chargers' mostly stagnant offense difficult to come by so far this season, averaging 3.7 YPC through five games after going for 4.4 as a rookie in 2025. On Sunday in particular, he had to contend with fellow RBs Kimani Vidal (nine touches) and Keaton Mitchell (six) mixing into the action a decent amount. Due to ceding those reps to his backfield mates, Hampton's weekly ceiling doesn't appear to be as high as it may have seemed heading into the campaign.
Omarion Hampton — Active
Hampton failed to reach 10 rushes in a game for the first time in four opportunities this season, and he ceded a number of backfield reps to position mates Keaton Mitchell (15 touches for 63 yards) and Kimani Vidal (seven touches, 36 yards and one TD). It's unclear if the Chargers intend to keep up more of a timeshare between the trio moving forward, but Hampton's lack of targets (five) so far in 2026 inhibit his overall value if he isn't taking on a majority of the rushing workload. His next chance to take the field arrives next Sunday versus the Broncos.
Omarion Hampton — Active
The Chargers' No. 1 back got seven more carries than change-of-pace option Keaton Mitchell, but he was able to outpace the latter by only four yards. It was a disappointing downturn for Hampton, who'd broken out with 94 rushing yards and a touchdown while adding a 2-21-0 receiving line against the Raiders in Week 2. The Chargers are now alarmingly 0-3 heading into a daunting Week 4 road matchup against the Seahawks, but Hampton figures to remain in a clear-cut lead role for that contest.
