Panthers place WR Xavier Legette on IR with knee injury
The Carolina Panthers have placed 2024 first-round pick Xavier Legette on injured reserve ahead of Sunday's prime-time matchup against the Detroit Lions.
Xavier Legette — Injured Reserve
Legette has been working through a knee injury the last two weeks, and while he was slated to miss a second straight contest Sunday against the Lions, he'll now sit out at least the next four (including Week 4), meaning his next chance for game action is Sunday, Nov. 8 versus the Broncos. In Legette's continued absence, Carolina will lean on Tetairoa McMillan, Jalen Coker (quadriceps), Brycen Tremayne, John Metchie and David Moore at wide receiver.
Xavier Legette — Out
Legette will miss a second straight game, and with Jalen Coker (quadriceps) listed questionable, the Panthers could be forced to dip even deeper into their wide receiver depth after Brycen Tremayne and John Metchie played heavy snaps in Week 3 against Cleveland.
Xavier Legette — Doubtful
Legette is considered week-to-week and is trending toward a second consecutive absence Sunday night against the Lions. He'll likely have to practice in some capacity Friday to avoid being ruled out on Friday's injury report. Brycen Tremayne, John Metchie and David Moore are candidates for increased roles in a Panthers wide receiver room that may also be without Jalen Coker (quadriceps), who practiced in a limited fashion Thursday after sitting out Wednesday's session.
Xavier Legette — Doubtful
Coach Dave Canales labeled Legette as week-to-week headed into Sunday night's game against the Lions. With Jalen Coker (quad) also dinged up, the Panthers could again be looking at giving Brycen Tremayne and John Metchie considerable playing time alongside Tetairoa McMillan in Detroit. Legette has a 2-64-0 receiving line on six targets across two games this season.
