Ray Davis — Questionable
Davis received the day off while he was feeling under the weather, but so long as he's able to get back on the practice field Friday, he should avoid taking a designation into Sunday's game against the Ravens. While handling a backup role behind lead back James Cook this season, Davis has carried just five times for 12 yards to go with three receptions for 40 yards through Buffalo's first six contests.
Ray Davis — Active
Davis made his impact felt early with a 40-yard return on the game's opening kickoff, which set the Bills offense up at midfield and led to a 44-yard field goal by Tyler Bass nine plays later. Both of Davis' touches on offense came on back-to-back plays in the second quarter, and his nine offensive snaps were behind both Ty Johnson (12) and James Cook (45). Davis isn't much of a factor offensively, but he would be in line for a larger role if one or both of Cook and Johnson miss time. The Bills will enjoy their bye week before hosting the Ravens in Week 8 on Sunday, Nov. 1.
Ray Davis — Active
Davis opened Monday's contest in style with a 70-yard return on the opening kickoff that set the Bills up deep in Rams territory, though the Rams defense forced a three-and-out and Buffalo had to settle for a 49-yard field goal. Davis made another big contribution early in the fourth quarter, when he turned a screen pass into a 31-yard gain before being tackled just short of the goal line, which led to a one-yard touchdown run by Josh Allen on the next play. Davis has been limited mostly to work on special teams while mixing in occasionally in the back field. That said, Davis and Ty Johnson could both be in the mix for more offensive touches, given that head coach Joe Brady said Tuesday that "...at some point there has to be consequences" in reference to James Cook's fumble issues this season, per Nick Suss of ESPN.com. The Bills will stay on the road for Week 6 against the Raiders on Oct. 18.
Ray Davis — Active
Both of Davis' offensive outputs came on back-to-back plays early in the second quarter, and his four snaps on offense were well behind starter James Cook (35) and backup Ty Johnson (19). Even as a returner, Davis took a back seat to Greg Dortch, the latter of whom returned four kickoffs for 91 yards and two punts for 16 yards. Davis' production on offense and special teams will continue to be limited unless one of Cook, Johnson or Dortch were to miss time.
Ray Davis — Active
Davis was questionable heading into Sunday's game after participating as a limited participant in Friday's practice. The 26-year-old has one rushing attempt through three regular-season games for three yards.
Ray Davis — Questionable
Davis popped up on the injury report Thursday as a full participant, which would suggest he was possibly injured at the end of that practice. If Davis is unable to play in Week 4, Ty Johnson and Frank Gore will likely handle the backup duties behind James Cook.
Ray Davis — Active
Davis' catch for no gain early in the fourth quarter was negated by a holding penalty by Alec Anderson. It appears Davis will not be a factor in the Bills' offensive game plan this season, with Ty Johnson serving as the backup option in the backfield for James Cook. Davis should continue to see the field as a contributor on special teams, though he did not return a kickoff after doing so in both of the first two games of the regular season.
