Injury & Status History
A running log of this player's status changes — each entry links to the original source.
Woody Marks — Active
Mark remained busy in the absence of David Montgomery (groin), handling 20 touches while no other running back got a touch for the Texans. Over the last three games, the first of which Montgomery left early and the last two of which he missed, Marks has recorded 247 scrimmage yards on 56 touches. Marks missed some action in the second half Sunday due to a leg injury but returned to the game. Houston's Week 8 bye will give both Marks and Montgomery a chance to heal up, and Houston would likely return to a backfield platoon in Week 9 against the Chargers if Montgomery's ready to play.
Woody Marks — Active
Marks visited the sideline tent in the third quarter but was able to get back on the field in the fourth after having his left leg examined in the medical tent. He'll continue to power the Texans backfield with David Montgomery (groin) inactive for a second straight game.
Woody Marks — Questionable
Marks walked off the field without a noticeable limp late in the third quarter to be examined. The Texans have only one other healthy running back (Dare Ogunbowale) on the game-day roster with David Montgomery (groin) sidelined for a second game in a row.
Woody Marks — Active
With Montgomery sidelined this past Sunday against Jacksonville in London, Marks put up a 15-56-0 rushing line while catching two of three targets for 25 yards. That production was very similar to the previous week versus Tennessee, when Marks played the bulk of Houston's offensive snaps due to Montgomery's early exit and posted a 15-62-0 rushing line along with a 4-23-0 receiving line. Montgomery has yet to practice since getting hurt, so it's possible Marks could lead the backfield again Week 8 versus the Chargers, though next week's practice reports will shed more light on that scenario.
Woody Marks — Active
With David Montgomery (groin) inactive, Marks led the Texans backfield in touches and scrimmage yards, but practice-squad elevation Jawhar Jordan arguably made a bigger splash with 43 rushing yards and a touchdown on just six carries. Jordan showed some upside late last season when pressed into duty as well, so even if Montgomery's absence continues, Marks could see his workload shrink. Marks will take on the Giants in Week 7.
Woody Marks — Active
Montgomery logged just nine snaps in the Texans' 26-3 win over the Titans in Week 5 before departing with the injury, which cleared the way for Marks to see his heftiest workload of the season. The second-year player out of USC ended up taking the field for 56 of 66 snaps, finishing with 62 yards on 15 carries to go with four catches for 23 yards on four targets. With Montgomery on track to miss at least the London game and potentially additional contests beyond that, Marks should have a decent chance at replicating his Week 5 touch count. Beyond Marks, Dare Ogunbowale is the only other healthy running back on the 53-man roster, while Jawhar Jordan and Deuce Vaughn loom as potential candidates to be elevated from the practice squad to add depth to the position group amid Montgomery's expected absence.
Woody Marks — Active
The 19 touches and 85 scrimmage yards were season highs for Marks, and the added volume came after David Montgomery left the game in the second quarter due to a groin strain and didn't return. Marks has been trending toward taking on a larger share of the load anyway as a result of Montgomery's ineffectiveness, but if the veteran back is forced to miss any additional time, the decision on who the Texans' No. 1 RB is would be made for coach DeMeco Ryans. Through five games, Marks has 149 rushing yards and two TDs along with an 11-54-0 line through the air on 13 targets, but his 3.5 yards per carry is a reflection of the offensive line's struggles. If he does take on the top job in the backfield in Week 6, it'll come against a very stingy Jaguars run defense.
Woody Marks — Active
Marks logged four fewer carries than David Montgomery (10), but he was able to notch a six-yard score in the fourth quarter. The running back now has reached the end zone in back-to-back contests as he attempts to eat into Montgomery's workload in the backfield. Neither running back is a particularly appealing option in fantasy at the moment, but Marks is trending in the right direction.
Woody Marks — Active
Marks and David Montgomery both averaged only 3.0 yards per carry during Sunday's loss, though the former found the end zone for the first time this season on a one-yard rushing touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Marks' 20 snaps on offense was behind Montgomery's 34, though neither running back has found much success in the rushing attack in each of the Texans' last two games. Houston will look to avoid an 0-4 start to the season in Week 4 against Dallas.
