Talanoa Hufanga — Out
Hufanga was held out of practice all week due to an ankle injury, which he picked up during the Broncos' Week 5 win over the Chargers. He'll be sidelined for a second consecutive game, and his next opportunity to play is Week 8 against the Chiefs on Sunday, Nov. 1. Devon Key and Jahdae Barron will both continue to see more work in the secondary in Hufanga's absence.
Talanoa Hufanga — Doubtful
Hufanga suffered an ankle injury during the Broncos' Week 5 win over the Chargers, and the severity of the injury was diagnosed as week-to-week. He didn't play against the Seahawks in Week 6, but he'll have two more opportunities to practice in at least a limited capacity ahead of Sunday's road tilt against the Cardinals. Devon Key will continue to operate in an expanded role in the Broncos' secondary for as long as Hufanga is sidelined.
Talanoa Hufanga — Out
Listed as a non-participant on the Broncos' first two Week 6 injury reports, Hufanga is set to miss Thursday's game against the Seahawks and looks like he could be in danger of missing additional time beyond that. Per Fowler, one source familiar with Hufanga's situation estimated that the safety could be sidelined for about 2-to-3 weeks, depending on how quickly he bounces back from the ankle injury. Hufanga has recorded 23 tackles (12 solo), three pass breakups, two interceptions, one forced fumble, one sack and one touchdown through the Broncos' first five games.
Talanoa Hufanga — Questionable
Hufanga suffered an ankle injury during the team's 23-17 win over the Chargers on Sunday, and the team will have a short week prior to facing the Seahawks on Thursday night. The safety will have two more chances to participate at practice this week, and if he can't go Thursday, Devon Key would be the top candidate to draw a start in Hufanga's place within Denver's secondary.
Talanoa Hufanga — Questionable
Hufanga had his lower body bent backwards while making a tackle in the second half, and his day has now officially come to a premature end. In his absence, JL Skinner and Devon Key are both candidates to see increased opportunities at safety.
Talanoa Hufanga — Active
Hufanga was on the field for every one of the team's defensive snaps in the contest but he was limited to a season-low four takedowns. The safety has now registered 21 total tackles (10 solo), including 1.0 sacks, and has intercepted two passes, one of which he returned for a touchdown, over four contests to open the 2026 campaign.
Talanoa Hufanga — Active
Hufanga's heroics in the fourth quarter was a driving force behind the Broncos' come-from-behind victory this past Sunday. It started early in the period with a 10-yard sack on Matthew Stafford on a third-and-5, leading to a 48-yard field goal by Harrison Mevis. Hufanga followed that up by picking off a Stafford pass intended for Kyren Williams, which Hufanga returned 66 yards for a touchdown to give the Broncos the lead. The sixth-year safety wrapped up his career night with a game-sealing interception off Stafford in the end zone on the final play of the contest. Hufanga and the Broncos will look to carry their momentum into a Week 4 road tilt against the 49ers this Sunday.
