Alec Pierce — Injured Reserve

A couple weeks ago, Pierce shed the cast that he had been wearing to protect his surgically repaired left heel, but the wideout looks like he'll remain limited to rehab work for at least another week before potentially making his return to practice. In Pierce's continued absence, the Colts will lean on Josh Downs, Keenan Allen and Laquon Treadwell to serve as their primary receiver trio, though none of the three have been consistent fantasy producers while quarterback Daniel Jones (4:7 TD:INT, 5.8 yards per attempt) has struggled mightily through the first seven weeks of the season.

Alec Pierce — Injured Reserve

Pierce now has spent the requisite four games on injured reserve after re-injuring his surgically repaired left heel in the Colts' Week 2 loss to the Chiefs, but he'll need some more time to complete a rehab program before getting back on the practice field. Given the recurring nature of Pierce's injury in addition to the significant financial investment in him, the Colts are likely to take a deliberate approach in bringing the wideout back from IR.

Alec Pierce — Injured Reserve

It's a sign that Pierce is progressing in his recovery from a left heel injury that he aggravated during the Colts' Week 2 overtime loss to the Chiefs. The earliest he is eligible to return from injured reserve is Week 7 against the Vikings, and while Pierce opted for rehab and avoided surgery, Boyd believes that the fifth-year wide receiver is not close to a return. Josh Downs popped up on Wednesday's injury report with a hamstring injury, so Keenan Allen could be the Colts' top wide receiver for Sunday's AFC South showdown against the Titans.

Alec Pierce — Injured Reserve

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network had previously relayed last week that Pierce would avoid another procedure after aggravating his surgically repaired heel in a Sept. 20 loss to the Chiefs, but that report was called into question after the wideout was spotted Sunday moving around the Colts locker room with the aid of a scooter while he had a cast on his left foot. Apparently, Pierce is using the cast for extra protection and using the scooter to keep weight off the injured foot, which he hopes will accelerate the healing process. Pierce is without a timeline to return to game action, but he'll have to miss at least three more contests after landing on injured reserve over the weekend.
