Reed Blankenship — Out
Blankenship has been unable to progress through the NFL's five-step concussion protocol and will be sidelined for the Texans' Week 7 contest. M.J. Stewart will likely be called upon to start at strong safety in the former Eagle's absence.
Reed Blankenship — Questionable
Blankenship suffered a concussion in this past Sunday's win over Jacksonville and has also since been tagged with a hand injury. It's unclear how serious the latter issue is, but the veteran safety won't be eligible to return to game action until he clears the NFL's five-step concussion protocol. If Blankenship can't play Sunday versus the Giants, M.J. Stewart may be called upon to start.
Texans safety Reed Blankenship suffers concussion vs. Jaguars in London
The Houston Texans lost starting safety Reed Blankenship to a concussion in the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.
Reed Blankenship — Questionable
Blankenship was deemed to have a concussion by one of the NFL's independent neurologists. The safety has now entered the league's five-step concussion protocol and will not participate in full-contact practices or games until he is cleared. M.J. Stewart will likely finish the game at strong safety alongside Calen Bullock.
Reed Blankenship — Questionable
Blankenship took a hit to the head late in the first half and was carted to the locker room, where he will be evaluated by medical staff to determine whether he can return to Sunday's game. M.J. Stewart will fill in at safety alongside Calen Bullock for as long as Blankenship is out of the contest.
Reed Blankenship — Active
Blankenship played 73 defensive snaps in the contest, 94 percent of the Texans' total defensive plays. The 27-year-old also played four special-teams snaps in the losing effort. The strong safety's 11 tackles were second to outside linebacker Jake Hansen's 12.
Reed Blankenship — Active
Blankenship recorded his first interception of the season early in the third quarter, when he jumped in front of a floating pass from Daniel Jones intended for Josh Downs deep in Houston's territory. It was Blankenship's second interception since the start of the 2025 campaign after recording a career-high four picks across 15 regular-season games with the Eagles in 2024. His presence in the secondary will be crucial in Week 4 when the Texans welcome in the Cowboys, whose offense ranks in the top 10 in the league in points per game (29.3).
