The 49ers have a bye for Week 8, so his next chance to play is Week 9 against the Raiders on Sunday, Nov. 8. Garret Wallow (hamstring) is also out, so Tatum Bethune is currently the lone depth option at linebacker ahead of Sunday's contest.

He was working in an elevated role defensively due to the absences of Dre Greenlaw (suspension) and Garret Wallow (hamstring), so Tatum Bethune should see a larger workload on defense for as long as Gifford is out of the game.
