Patriots place veteran WR Mack Hollins on IR with calf injury
The Patriots placed veteran wide receiver Mack Hollins on injured reserve Saturday with a calf injury.
Mack Hollins — Injured Reserve
Hollins was already ruled out for Sunday's game against the Raiders due to a calf injury, which is severe enough for the veteran wide receiver to require a stint on IR. As such, Hollins is prohibited from playing for at least the next four games, so the next time he can play is Week 9 against the Packers on Sunday, Nov. 8. Romeo Doubs, DeMario Douglas, Efton Chism and Kyle Williams will all have expanded roles on offense in Hollins' absence, though the Patriots could have A.J. Brown (ankle) back in the fold over the coming weeks.
Mack Hollins — Out
With Hollins unavailable, Romeo Doubs looks like New England's clear No. 1 receiver. DeMario Douglas, Efton Chism and Kyle Williams could all have increased roles in Hollins' absence.
Mack Hollins — Questionable
Hollins appears to be missing a second consecutive practice ahead of Sunday's tilt against the Raiders. If Hollins is unable to suit up Sunday, Efton Chism could work alongside Romeo Doubs and DeMario Douglas in three-receiver sets, while Hollins' strong blocking may be missed in the running game.
Mack Hollins — Questionable
Hollins is nursing a calf injury coming out of this past Sunday's win over the Bills, and his availability for the Patriots' Week 5 matchup with the Raiders is in question. If Hollins can't play this weekend, the Patriots will likely turn to Efton Chism to serve as their No. 3 wideout behind Romeo Doubs and DeMario Douglas.
Mack Hollins — Questionable
Hollins recorded three catches for 53 yards on four targets before exiting in the third quarter of Sunday's 29-26 win over the Bills due to the calf issue. The Patriots listed Hollins as questionable to return at the time of his departure, but he never ended up checking back into the contest. More information on the severity of Hollins' injury should be known in the next day or two, but if he ends up being unavailable for next Sunday's game against the Raiders, more reps would be opened up for Efton Chism, who helped fill in for Hollins in the fourth quarter and made an acrobatic 23-yard touchdown grab with just under two minutes remaining to seal the win over Buffalo.
Mack Hollins — Questionable
Hollins hauled in three passes (on four targets) for 53 yards before exiting for the locker room, where he'll have his calf injury evaluated by medical staff to determine whether he can return to Sunday's game. Romeo Doubs, DeMario Douglas and Hunter Henry are all in line for more targets from Drake Maye while Hollins is out of the game.
Mack Hollins — Active
Hollins saw nearly twice as many targets as the next closest option DeMario Douglas (five), and his 87 yards were his highest total in a regular-season contest since Week 10 of the 2025 campaign. With A.J. Brown (ankle) on injured reserve, someone will have to take the reins as the Patriots' top option at wide receiver, and Hollins certainly showed he's capable of handling a larger workload.
