Andy Dalton — Out
Dalton is a healthy scratch for Sunday's contest as he continues to ramp up his participation in the Falcons' offense. The quarterback joined the team after being cut by the Eagles on Oct. 9. Jack Strand (coach's decision) will be the inactive QB behind Michael Penix and Tua Tagovailoa for Week 7 against the 49ers.
Andy Dalton — Active
Dalton was cut by the Eagles on Oct. 9, but it didn't take long for the veteran quarterback to find work with another team, as he signed with the Falcons on Monday. He's tracking toward being available for Week 8 against the Buccaneers on Sunday, Nov. 1, and Dalton could supplant Tua Tagovailoa for Atlanta's backup role behind Michael Penix.
Andy Dalton — Active
Per Schefter, Atlanta plans to release Cooper Rush to make room on the 53-man roster for Dalton, who will likely slot ahead of undrafted rookie Jack Strand but behind Michael Penix and Tua Tagovailoa on the depth chart at quarterback. While he was with the Eagles earlier this season, Dalton beat out Tanner McKee for the No. 2 job coming out of the preseason. However, he had dropped to third on the depth chart and was ultimately cut after throwing a red-zone interception in his lone pass attempt with the Eagles while briefly filing in for starter Jalen Hurts in a Week 3 loss to the Bears.
Andy Dalton — Active
Dalton had been active ahead of McKee as the No. 2 quarterback for each of the Eagles' first three games of the season, but he didn't see any action until midway through the second quarter of Monday's 27-7 loss to the Bears, when Hurts exited to get checked for a concussion. After three consecutive handoffs to Saquon Barkley got the Eagles to two-yard line to set up a third-and-goal, Dalton proceeded to throw a back-breaking interception in the end zone on his lone pass attempt before Hurts returned for the ensuing possession. The costly pick looks to have been enough to cost Dalton the No. 2 job, at least for one week.
