Magic's Jalen Suggs out at least 2 weeks with knee injury
Magic guard Jalen Suggs suffered a mild bone bruise in his right knee and will miss at least the next two weeks.
Jalen Suggs — Out
Suggs suffered the injury during Sunday's win over the Knicks when his right knee buckled following a layup attempt. Fortunately, further testing revealed no major structural damage, though the 25-year-old will miss at least two weeks before being re-evaluated. Anthony Black and Jase Richardson could see increased opportunities in Orlando's backcourt during Suggs' absence.
Jalen Suggs — Day-To-Day
Suggs exited the game late in the fourth quarter due to a non-contact right knee injury and was unable to return. He concluded the contest with four points (2-8 FG, 0-3 3Pt), six rebounds, six assists and three steals in 33 minutes. Initial reports postgame suggest that Suggs will undergo an MRI in the coming days to determine the extent of the injury.
Magic's Jalen Suggs exits late vs. Knicks with apparent knee injury
Magic guard Jalen Suggs had to be helped off the floor late in the fourth quarter Sunday against the Knicks after suffering an apparent right knee injury.
Jalen Suggs — Day-To-Day
Suggs struggled to find any rhythm Wednesday, managing just six points despite playing 32 minutes. He did rack up a pair of steals, providing fantasy managers with some respite. Perhaps the biggest positive to come out of the game was the fact that he played in excess of 30 minutes. Missed games have been a major issue for Suggs throughout his career, up to and including last season. Those who drafted him this season will be hoping he can finally stay on the floor.
Jalen Suggs — Day-To-Day
Suggs couldn't put much pressure at all on his right leg as he was helped back to the locker room, so for now, he should be considered doubtful to return. Anthony Black will likely be elevated to a starting role if Suggs needs to miss time, and there will be more minutes available for Jase Richardson.
Jalen Suggs — Day-To-Day
Sweeney added that Suggs is doing well, but there was no mention of his status for Tuesday's preseason game against the Cavaliers. Suggs' status for Opening Night is not a concern, however.
Jalen Suggs — Day-To-Day
Suggs has been dealing with an illness lately, and although he has made progress in his recovery, he is not yet ready to play. His next chance to suit up comes Tuesday against the Cavaliers.
Jalen Suggs — Day-To-Day
Suggs has been sick for nearly a week, and while it may not affect his regular-season availability, it has limited his training camp reps. The veteran point guard was sidelined for Orlando's preseason opener last Wednesday, and his status for Sunday's exhibition in Cleveland remains unclear.
Jalen Suggs — Day-To-Day
Suggs has been under the weather for a few days and will miss Orlando's preseason opener, along with Anthony Black (ankle), which sends second-year guard Jase Richardson into the starting lineup. Suggs will have three more chances to suit up during the preseason, with his first opportunity coming Sunday in Cleveland.
Jalen Suggs — Day-To-Day
Suggs appears to be progressing after being limited by the illness over the previous few days. His activity level is encouraging, though his status for Wednesday's preseason opener against Memphis remains uncertain.
Jalen Suggs — Day-To-Day
Coach Sean Sweeney said Sunday that Suggs can do "a little bit, but not much" at the moment, though the expectation is that he'll ramp up his activity soon. With Orlando's preseason opener against Memphis set for Wednesday, Suggs' participation over the next couple practices should provide a better indication of his availability.
